ABOUT THE PROJECT

Staple Design was engaged to design a new contemporary kitchen and laundry for the owners of a 1940s home in Swanbourne.

The existing kitchen required a more functional layout, improved circulation and a stronger connection to the surrounding living areas. The design response focused on creating a timeless kitchen that felt clean, calm and practical, while still offering moments of warmth and detail.

A key part of the renovation involved removing the corner pantry to open up the kitchen and improve movement through the space. The laundry was also carefully screened, allowing the practical working areas of the home to feel more discreet and resolved.

DESIGN DETAILS

The kitchen was designed as a simple, timeless white interior, with cabinetry, lighting and detailing working together to create a refined and functional space.

A large pendant light hangs centrally over the island bench, creating a focal point for the kitchen and broader living area. Its scale and form offer a contemporary interpretation of a classic chandelier, creating a subtle reference to the more traditional detailing found in the original part of the home.

The result is a fresh and practical kitchen and laundry renovation that feels calm, functional and enduring.

I heard on the grapevine Staple Design had a pretty good rep. We needed a major upgrade of our front office and Rachael and Co came up with a very unique design that encapsulated a quirky industrial theme with a giant loom. It has so much wow factor, we get customers walking in with mouths open and eyes dilated. We also worked with a terrific team of trades people suggested by Rachael and are extremely happy with the end result. So much so, not long after the completion of our office we contacted Rachael to help us upgrade our home kitchen. My wife Vicki & I discussed this with Rachael and once again were really impressed with Rachael’s design ideas. We used the same tradies as our office project and were delighted with the outcome. Now we have friends come to our house walking in, with mouths open and eyes dilated. I thoroughly recommend Staple design.
