ABOUT THE PROJECT

This North Fremantle home was renovated gradually over a five-year period, shaped by the realities of budget, time, work commitments and the arrival of a new baby.

As Rachael’s own home, the project was deeply personal and evolved over time. Rather than being completed in one large stage, the renovation was approached carefully and incrementally, with each decision made to improve the function, comfort and character of the home.

The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can create meaningful change, even when working with a tight budget and practical constraints. Through considered planning, hard work and a clear design direction, the home was transformed into a warm, functional and layered family space.

DESIGN DETAILS

The interior direction focused on creating a relaxed and highly liveable home, with practical spaces that could support everyday family life.

The renovation included updates across the kitchen, dining, bathroom, bedrooms and children’s spaces, with each area designed to feel connected, personal and considered. Storage, furniture, styling and material choices were approached with the same intention: to create a home that felt warm, useful and full of character.

The result is a personal and practical renovation that reflects the way real family homes are often created — slowly, carefully and with plenty of heart.
